IPL 2021: “I'm worried about Mumbai Indians (MI)," says Brian Lara

MI have won two out their five matches in IPL 14 so far.

West Indies legend Brian Lara while expressing concerns over Mumbai Indians’ (MI) form in the IPL 2021 said that he’s worried about defending champions as they are going into the venue which is sluggish.

Mumbai Indians (MI) had a slow start to their IPL 14 campaign. The defending champions are placed fourth on the points table. In the five matches they played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai they won only two matches as their batsman struggled to score runs.

The five-time champions will now play their next four matches at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi and they would be hoping to put up consistent performance with the bat.

Ahead of their fixtures at Delhi, former West Indies player Brain Lara said that the change of venues won't matter to high-flying teams like the RCB. But for MI, who are coming off heavy defeats, sluggish pitches and different will pose a problem.

“I mean, it's such a tournament that it’s so hard to say. I think the teams that are winning, like RCB, will go to every venue with confidence. I think teams without confidence will see venues as a problem, they would see pitches as a problem,” Brian Lara told Star Sports.

Lara further said that he is worried about Rohit Sharma-led side as they will play at Delhi, where the wicket is sluggish, and are low on confidence.

“I'm worried about Mumbai Indians. They are now going to another venue, which again, is a bit sluggish. How are they going to perform? I'm very, very worried about the double champions,” he said.

Barring skipper Rohit Sharma, none of the MI batsmen has looked in great form and defending champions would be hoping that their batsmen return to form when they next face Rajasthan Royals on 29th April at Delhi.
