IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant can captain Team India in future, he has same aura of Ganguly and Dhoni, opines Pragyan Ojha

Rishabh Pant failed to take his team home as DC lost to RCB by 1 run.

Rishabh Pant | BCCI/IPLDelhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant did not have a great game against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 22 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) as he failed to get his team over the line and lost the match by 1 run.

Even though DC lost the match, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha feels like Pant can lead India one day as he was impressed by the maturity the southpaw showed while batting and the way he handled himself after losing such a close match.

The way he has led his team. Somehow I get a feeling that in the years to come, if Rishabh Pant bats the way he has been batting and shows this maturity, he can be the captain. He is showing that,” Ojha said.

When you talk about a player, the aura around him shows it. It makes me feel that this is the guy who can be the captain of the Indian team,” he added.

Ojha then compared the Delhi-based batsman to former skippers Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni as he said, “This is the same aura that was created about Sourav Ganguly, created about MS Dhoni. So that is how it is. I feel he can. It’s still far away.

But right now, the way he is developing himself as a player and as a leader, that is something that the think tank should have a close look at. Under Ravi (Shastri) bhai, I think he will develop, the 34-year-old told Sports Today.

After losing to RCB, Capitals will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (29 April) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
