Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag while lauding Jasprit Bumrah for his impressive performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 9 of IPL 2021 explained why Mumbai Indians (MI) is the best team of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their third match of IPL 14 by 13 runs in Chennai on Saturday (17th April).

Chasing the target of 151 runs SRH openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow took MI bowlers to cleaners except for Jasprit Bumrah in their opening 67 runs.

The ace pacer conceded only 14 runs in his quota of four overs and gave only four runs in the 17th over and five in the 19th. He also claimed the crucial wicket of Vijay Shankar (28), who was single-handedly keeping SRH’s hopes alive.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag heaped rich praise on MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah and called him ‘Brahmastra’ of his this team. He added that as long as Rohit Sharma-led franchise has this weapon, they are ‘unbeatable’.

"He (Bumrah) is Mumbai Indians' "Brahmastra"; as long as they have the "Brahmastra", they are "Ajay" (unbeatable),” Virender Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

IPL 2021: It's good when you scrap the victories- Kieron Pollard after MI thumped SRH

By ‘Brahmastra’, he is referring to the invincible supernatural weapons mentioned in the epic of Indian mythology.

Sehwag further while explaining the reason why MI is the top-most team in this tournament said that they have the resources to defend low totals and also chase down high titles.

"When Jonny Bairstow hit plenty from Krunal Pandya's two overs, that is why [Kieron] Pollard was brought on. They thought the way Vijay Shankar bowled, even Pollard could be useful the same way. That's when I thought that we might get to see Hardik Pandya bowl as well. He is good at bowling the slower balls.

“His pace has decreased due to back problems and doesn't bowl as fast as he used to but he's good at changing the pace of the ball. This is why we say Mumbai Indians are the best team of this tournament; that is because they can defend low totals and also chase down high targets. In the bowling department, they have Boult, Bumrah, Rahul Chahar and all three did their job very efficiently," he said.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, pacer Trent Boult and leg-spinner Rahul Chahar took three wickets each and helped Mumbai Indians beat David Warner-led franchise by 13 runs to claim their second win of the season.
