Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Kieron Pollard while talking about his knock against Sunrirsers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 9 of IPL 2021 said that it’s good when the team scrapes the victories as it gives confidence.

Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 13 runs in an IPL 14 encounter at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Opting to bat, the Rohit Sharma-led franchise was off the flyer as they scored 53 runs without any wicket in the mandatory 6-over power play.

However, a mini-collapse in the middle order saw them tumbling at 114/5. Promoted up the order Kieron Pollard played a cameo scoring unbeaten 35 runs off 22 balls with 3 sixes and a four.

His knock of 35 runs earned him the Man of the Match award and proved to be the difference between the two sides as MI registered their second win of the season.

IPL 2021: ‘We can do better in middle overs with the bat’, says Rohit Sharma’s after MI’s win over SRH

Talking about his knock in the post-match presentation, Kieron Pollard revealed that all the middle-order batsmen in the MI camp remain padded up and walk out to bat according to the game situation and irrespective of their set batting order.

"I think the situation dictates who comes first, we are all padded up and whenever we're called on, we're ready. There's no secret. We have to find a way and again in the back end getting those extra runs helped us,” Kieron Pollard said during the post-match presentation.

Pollard further said that it’s always difficult to adjust on the pitch as a finisher because they’ve very less amount of balls left. He added that it’s good when the team scrapes victories as it gives confidence.

"It's very difficult to adjust on this pitch when you only have a couple of balls, but that's what we train for. It's good when you scrap the victories, it gives you confidence," he said.

Mumbai Indians will next lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on 20th April at Chennai.
