IPL 2021: WATCH- Hardik Pandya underlines the importance of mental health on World Health Day

Hardik, Krunal and other MI players talked about health and happiness in a video.

Hardik Pandya for MI | TwitterIndia and Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya highlighted the importance of maintaining mental health and realized its importance while playing international cricket and credited his family for keeping him in the “right space”.

Hardik Pandya recently returned to the Indian team fold after spending a long time recovering from his back surgery, while he made his return to cricket for MI in IPL 2020. He played purely as a batsman for them, as he helped MI win their fifth IPL title in 2020 in UAE.

He recently starred with the bat and the ball in the white-ball cricket series against England.

“When I play international cricket, mentally I realized, because the kind of pressure that came into your life. Obviously, life change for us, but as an individual, you need to cope with all the things. So for me I realized that mental health is also important, where my family played a big role to make sure that I am in right space,” Hardik said in a video posted by Mumbai Indians on its official Twitter handle.  

All international players have had to spend extended time in bio-bubbles away from their families including spending time alone in isolation in mandatory quarantine.

Hardik, who has played 60 ODIs and 48 T20s, also dwelled on the importance of physical fitness on the occasion of World Health Day.

“Just making sure that in the day, you are doing some activity which is adding to your fitness, that’s very important. And if you look after small things, it’s going to be grateful that it is going to look after your body,” he said.

Apart from Hardik, his brother Krunal also emphasized on “inner happiness and peace”.

When we work hard, we work hard for that inner happiness, that inner peace where you can sleep for eight hours, you can laugh for 4-5 hours,” said Krunal.

Apart from the Pandya brothers, other MI players shared their fitness and health mantras on World Health Day in the same video.
