The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (April 5) appointed former Gujarat DGP Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala as the head of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit.

Shabir Hussein, a 1973-batch IPS officer, will replace Ajit Singh, former DGP of Rajasthan, as the new head of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit. Mr. Singh had been working with the BCCI since April 2018 and his tenure ended as the head of BCCI’s ACU on March 31.

Mr. Khandwawala, who retired as Gujarat DGP in December 2010, had reportedly attended the final ODI between England and India last month in order to get an idea of how things work in the BCCI.

It is being said that the Indian cricket board didn’t invite applications for the post of BCCI’s ACU chief.
