IPL 2020: 5 biggest disappointments of IPL 13 edition

A look at the below-par performers who came into IPL 2020 with a lot of expectations.

The Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch featured in the IPL for his 8th IPL franchise when he opened the batting for the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The right-hander looked out of touch more often than not. It was a surprise to watch RCB sticking with him as an opener for 12 matches despite him failing at least 10 times.

Finch registered just one score of more than 50. He showed his prolonged weakness against the inswinging delivery. RCB was lucky to have an aggressive youngster in Devdutt Padikkal to take the pressure off his opening partner.

The Australian was not only getting out for low scores, but he was also found guilty of occupying the crease for longer periods of time despite not being able to score quickly. Finch scored 268 runs in 12 innings at an average of 22.33. His strike rate was 111.20, which is well below what was expected from the 33-year-old.

Only three other RCB batsmen registered half-centuries in IPL 2020 and that helped Finch go a bit unnoticed.
