Delhi Capitals who have struggled in the Indian Premier League over the years had their best ever season in its 13 years history as for the first-ever time they made to the final, although they lost to Mumbai Indians in the final, it was overall a good season for them.
Delhi Capitals' season began with a thrilling super over win against Kings XI Punjab and with that win, they gained momentum and continued to play good cricket and went on to win seven of the first nine matches but after that, they lost the plot and lost four back to back matches but a win in the last league match helped them to finish at the second position.
In Qualifier 1 they got hammered by Mumbai Indians but in Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they bounced back and made their first-ever final where they once again lost to Mumbai Indians.
When it comes to performances Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Marcus Stoinis, and captain Shreyas Iyer had a good season. R Ashwin and all-rounder Akshar Patel too did well but the likes of Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer, and Ajinkya Rahane disappointed a lot.
