IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as Suryakumar Yadav’s whirlwind 79* takes MI to 193/4 against RR

Suryakumar shared an unbroken stand of 75 runs for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya.

Suryakumar Yadav | Mumbai Indians/TwitterMumbai Indians (MI) are facing Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 20th match of IPL 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Opting to bat first, the defending champions got off to a flying start as the duo skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock added 49 runs for the opening wicket inside 5 overs.

Debutant Kartik Tyagi drew the first blood for Royals, removing De Kock for 15-ball 23. The dismissal led to Suryakumar Yadav’s arrival at the crease and the right-hander once again proved his mettle with the willow.

Even though MI lost Rohit (35 off 23 balls), Ishan Kishan (0) and Krunal Pandya (12 off 17 balls) in quick succession, Suryakumar held the one end firmly and smashed the RR bowlers to all parts of the ground in the death overs.

Mumbai aggregated 68 runs from the last 5 overs, with the pair of Suryakumar and Hardik Pandya forging an unbroken 75-run stand for the fifth wicket in just 38 deliveries.

While Suryakumar remained unbeaten on 79 off 47 balls (11 fours and 2 sixes), Hardik played a dazzling cameo of 19-ball 30 as MI eventually finished with 193/4 in 20 overs.

Cricket experts were quite impressed by Suryakumar Yadav’s herculean effort with the bat against RR.
