Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) clashed in the IPL 2026 on April 6 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat.
However, only 3.4 overs of play were possible asa heavy rain downpour resulted in the game being washed out. At the time the rain break happened, KKR was 25/2 with Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi at the crease, while Xavier Bartlett had taken both the wickets to fall.
Shresta Iyer, sister of PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, published a funny Instagram clip shortly after the match was abandoned, and it instantly went viral.
“Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point,” she joked in Punjabi, and then she and her group danced to a song. Her words suggested that Punjab had generously “given away” KKR a point after the washout.

The shared point sent the Punjab Kings to the top of the table with five points from three games, extending their outstanding start to the season. In comparison, KKR finally opened its account but is still struggling with only one point after three matches.
Though there was a brief period when the covers were removed, and the outfield appeared to be in good condition, puddles along the boundary and residual wetness prevented play from continuing. After several inspections by umpires and officials, including Sourav Ganguly, the match was officially called off at 11 p.m.
