Rohit Sharma's unique style of setting the field | ScreengrabRohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the best captains in the modern-day game. Under his leadership, India won the Asia Cup last year and made it to the World Cup 2023 final without losing a single match.

Last week, Rohit captained India to a series-clinching victory over England in the fourth Test in Ranchi. The hosts managed to beat the Ben Stokes-led side despite missing the services of several first-choice players, including Virat Kohli.

The India team seems poised to take the series 4-1 after bowling out England for 218 on the opening day of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala on Thursday (March 7).

Apart from Indian spinners’ brilliance, Rohit’s tactical acumen was once again on display. He was spot on with his field placements in Dharamsala.

At one point, Rohit, in his unique style, walked to backward short leg and placed Sarfaraz Khan into the right position by dragging him. He then strolled to the leg slip region and marked the spot where Yashasvi Jaiswal was supposed to stand.

Here’s the video:

Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, returning with a five-wicket haul (5/72). R Ashwin (4/51) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/17) shared the remaining five scalps between them to help India bundle out England for 218 in the first innings.

The hosts ended the opening day on 135/1, trailing England by just 83 runs with nine wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma (52*) and Shubman Gill (26*) were unbeaten in the middle at the close of play.
