After a week-long gap, Team India on Tuesday (March 5) will begin preparation for the fifth and final Test against England, slated to get underway on March 7 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
However, skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid won’t be present in the training session as they are reportedly scheduled to attend an event on the same day at Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur.
Both teams landed in Dharamsala on March 3 through a private charter from Chandigarh. They were due to begin preparations on Monday (March 4) but rain spoiled their plans.
On Tuesday, the Ben Stokes-led side is scheduled to train in morning with India booked for the afternoon slot at the HPCA Stadium.
According to report published in News18 CricketNext, Rohit and Dravid are yet to assemble with the squad and are expected to reach on Tuesday morning, after which they will travel to Bilaspur to attend the opening ceremony of the third edition of Khel Mahakhumbh along with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
Rohit and Dravid are expected to take part in the training session on the eve of the match i.e. on Wednesday (March 6).
Having won the last three Tests, India have already taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match. However, there is still a lot to play for as the valuable World Test Championship points are at stake.
The hosts will look to finish the series on a high and consolidate their spot at the top of the 2023-25 WTC points table.
India are expected to bring back ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah into the XI after giving him a rest in the penultimate Test in Ranchi.
