The second and final Test match between India and Bangladesh got underway on Friday (September 27) at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pacer Akash Deep justified the captain’s decision by sending back the Bangladeshi openers in quick succession.

Under overcast conditions, the duo of Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan did well to survive the first eight overs. Zakir’s intention was to see off the new ball rather scoring runs. However, the southpaw was dismissed by Akash in the ninth over for 24-ball duck, caught at gully by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Three overs later, Akash trapped Shadman in front of the wicket to push the visitors on the backfoot. He was confident in his appeal and once the umpire did not oblige, the right-arm quick immediately gestured to Rohit to take the review.

As it turned out, the ball tracking technology suggested that the ball would have hit leg-stump, prompting the on-field umpire to reverse his decision.

Rohit was taken aback by the decision as he gave a hilarious reaction to express his surprise. The other Indian players were also left surprised but they started to mob Akash Deep as soon as the decision was changed.

Having won the first Test in Chennai, Team India have already taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The hosts decided to field an unchanged playing XI for the second Test.

“We are going to bowl first. The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads and we want our three seamers to make use of it. We didn't start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score and the bowlers did the job. I expect no different here (fight from Bangladesh), we will be challenged but we have the experience to bounceback. Same team,” Rohit said at the toss.
