India won the T20I series 3-0.

Virat Kohli | BCCIIndia cricketing great Virat Kohli might not have done much with the bat in the final T20I against Afghanistan, but the 35-year-old was a livewire on the field. India defeated Afghanistan in the 3rd T20I in a double super over to pocket the series 3-0.

Kohli scored a golden duck in the match in Bengaluru, while Rohit Sharma (121*) and Rinku Singh (69*) starred with the bat, as they helped India recover from 22/4 to 212/4 in 20 overs. Then half-centuries by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Gulbadin Naib helped Afghanistan tie the encounter.

The first Super Over was tied as well, as India couldn’t overhaul Afghanistan’s score of 16 runs. In the second super over, India asked Afghanistan to chase 11 runs, but Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets for 1 run as India won the super over and the match.

Virat Kohli proved his worth on the field and during the crucial death overs in the match, he saved a sure six with his acrobatic fielding. In the 17th over, Karim Janat swatted Washington Sundar towards long-on boundary.

The ball looked to sail over for a six, but Kohli timed his jump perfectly, caught the ball, and knowing he would land over the boundary, threw the ball back in the field, saving 5 runs.

After the match, India fielding coach T Dilip delivered a brilliant speech in the dressing room while revealing the contenders for the fielder of the series medal. He named some fielders, notably Kohli and Rinku Singh, who both patrolled the boundary with vigilance.

In the end, Virat Kohli was handed the medal for his excellent catching and fielding at the boundary. Not only did the whole team lauded Kohli, but captain Rohit Sharma was seen smiling and clapping as well.
