India won the third and final T20I against Afghanistan on January 17, 2024, in Bengaluru to pocket the series 3-0. The match ended in a tie at the end of 40 overs thanks to Gulbadin Naib’s brilliance.
The first Super Over saw Afghanistan making 16 runs after batting first, thanks to Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz hitting a six and a four respectively. But the last ball of this super over caused a huge uproar.
Mukesh Kumar bowled a wide yorker, that Nabi missed and he scampered for a run. Sanju Samson threw the ball to Mukesh, but the ball hit Nabi’s leg and deflected enabling the Afghanistan batters to take two more runs.
However, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not happy with Nabi’s decision to take the extra two runs, especially after the ball had hit his legs and deflected.

Nabi seemingly claimed that he didn’t change the line of his running, but Rohit argued that he must’ve felt the ball hitting his leg and shouldn’t have taken the extra runs.

Rohit Sharma then hit Azmatullah Omarzai for two sixes before retiring to allow Rinku Singh to do the running on the last ball. Jaiswal was on the strike with two runs needed, but India only managed one run, and the Super Over was tied as well.
In the second Super Over, India posted 11 runs with Rohit hitting a six and a four, before India lost both of its wickets. India gave the ball to Ravi Bishnoi, who removed both Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to give India a win in the second Super Over.
India won the T20I series 3-0.
