Virat Kohli bagged his first-ever golden duck in the shortest format for India in the third T20I against Afghanistan at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Wednesday (January 17).

Left-arm pacer Fareed Ahmad got rid of Kohli in the third over of India’s innings. The star batter wanted to play a slap pull over the bowler’s head but the ball only scooped up off the bat, resulting in an easy catch for the mid-off fielder.

Virat’s first-ball duck drew funny reactions from the netizens. In the first two T20Is against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma got out without scoring and fans couldn’t stop relating Kohli’s duck with that of the Indian captain.

The series against Afghanistan marked Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s comeback to T20Is for the first time since November 2022.

While Kohli didn’t feature in the series opener due to personal reasons, he registered scores of 29 and 0 in the second and third games respectively.

On the other hand, Rohit slammed a steady half-century in the third T20I after scoring ducks in the first two matches.

Having won the games in Mohali and Indore, Team India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
