India's all-rounder, Shivam Dube, opened up about his conversation with captain Rohit Sharma following his impressive performance in the first T20I against Afghanistan on January 11 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
Dube played a crucial role in India's 6-wicket win over Afghanistan in the three-match T20I series opener on Thursday. Dube impressed many with his skills by scoring an unbeaten half-century and taking one wicket.
He made an impactful contribution with 60* runs off 40 balls, laced with five fours and two sixes and also picked one wicket. Reflecting on the match, Dube stressed the importance of sticking to his natural game.
The all-rounder admitted that he felt pressure, but he had confidence in his ability, which helped him play his natural game. For his impressive show, Dube got compliments from the skipper, Rohit.
Shivam Dube said after the match: “I was batting at 4 after a long time. There was a bit of pressure on me, but it was clear in my mind that I had to play my game. From my style, I feel a bit of pressure on the first 2 to 3 balls, but after that, I think about the ball and don't think too much. I know I can hit big sixes in T20s, so I know I can get runs anyway.”
He added, “Rohit Sharma said that I played really well and that we'll chat to improve my game in upcoming games. Today, I got the opportunity with the ball and executed what I had to.”
The second T20I will be played in Indore on January 14.
