Rohit Sharma (212) and Ajinkya Rahane (115) put India in a solid position at the end of day two of the third and final Test against South Africa in Ranchi. 

Earlier India resumed their batting on 224/3 and both the set batsmen Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane continued to score runs for fun. Rahane brought up his 11th Test hundred while Rohit Sharma notched up his maiden double hundred in Test cricket and eventually India declared on 497/9.

In reply, South Africa had a very poor start and lost both the openers Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock in the first two overs and the visitors were reeling at 9/2 in 5 overs before bad light brought an early end to the day's play.
