Wriddhiman Saha may have replaced Rishabh Pant as India's first-choice wicketkeeper batsman for the start of the Test series against South Africa but the duo share a nice working relationship off the field where the former is more than willing to help the latter, revealed opener Rohit Sharma following the team's 203-run win in Visakhapatnam.

"I thought he [Saha] kept really well. It's not easy even though we grow up in conditions like this, it's not easy for wicketkeepers," Rohit told reporters on Sunday (October 6).

"The odd ball keeps low or bounces higher. So, as a keeper, I don't know the technicality but you have got to be very still. I think he did a good job. Even today, when a few ball didn't carry, he put his body behind it to make sure extra runs weren't conceded."

"We have seen Saha grow as a keeper over the years. He has continued to get better day by day," he added. "Not to forget the two reviews we took against Philander, his part in it. He is a crucial part of our team. That's why he is back in the squad. He missed out because of his unfortunate injury. What is right and what is wrong... I can't talk about who should play and who shouldn't?"

Saha made a comeback to India's Test squad last month after a long injury lay off in the Caribbean where, Rohit said, he helped Pant get better at his wicketkeeping skills. "Speaking of Pant as well, He is definitely a quality (player) any team wants in the squad. Pant, we have seen, what he can do with the bat. Of course, he is working hard... working hard on his batting, keeping."

"I am sure our fielding coach, along with the other guys around him as well trying to help him, he will definitely get better as the days go by," he added.

"Saha plays a big part. When Saha was not playing in the West Indies, we have seen them regularly talking about how he needs to improve."

"Every session, when he used to come back, Saha was the first one to go to him and talk about his keeping. They have great understanding between them and I hope it continues for a long time," Rohit concluded.

The second Test begins on October 10 in Pune with India 1-0 up in the three-match series.
