IND v ENG 2021: BCCI releases update on injuries of Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma

Iyer and Sharma didn't come out to field during England's chase.

India gave debuts to Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya. India managed to post 317/5 with Shikhar Dhawan making 98 and Virat Kohli making 56. The Indian innings was buoyed by whirlwind half-centuries from KL Rahul (62* in 43 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours) and Krunal Pandya (58* in 31 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes).

Krunal made the world record of the fastest fifty on ODI debut when he reached the mark in 26 balls. Ben Stokes (3/34) and Mark Wood (2/75) were the wicket-takers for England.

However, India suffered a few setbacks in terms of injuries as Shreyas Iyer hurt his shoulder while fielding during England innings and has been taken for further scans. Another one was Rohit Sharma was hit on his right elbow during his knock and felt pain later. The BCCI updated that he won’t take the field.

He won’t take the field,” BCCI said in a release during the second innings.

Shreyas looked in pain and walked off the field while holding his shoulder, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of the IPL beginning April 9. He captains the IPL 2020 finalists Delhi Capitals. Further update on the extent of his injury is being awaited.
