Ex-England captain Michael Vaughan called the Chennai pitch of the second Test a 'beach' on Saturday (February 13). The pitch is helping the spinners from the first day of the match.
The dust coming off the wicket suggests it won't be easy for the batsmen to bat as the match progresses. Vaughan knows how tough it's going to get and he took to Twitter to write that 300 runs on this track would be equal to 500 runs in the first Test.
"I reckon 300 in the 1st innings is the equivalent of 500 last week on this Chennai beach !!! #INDvsENG," he tweeted.

Later, Vaughan quoted Aakash Chopra's tweet in which he predicted R Ashwin and Akshar Patel would pick 14 wickets together. The Englishman replied, "Only 14 on this beach?".
India captain Virat Kohli's dismissal in the first innings might be enough to warn the batters. He was bowled by an off-break from Moeen Ali and the shocked reaction from Kohli shows the ball wouldn't have turned and produced the same result on Day 1 Chennai pitch from the first Test.
However, India opener Rohit Sharma has still managed to score a hundred on the opening day of the match. He counter-attacked when needed as India had lost Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubman Gill, and Kohli early in the innings.
