Rohit added 85 runs for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara to bail India out of trouble. In the process, he completed his half-century off just 47 deliveries.

While England bounced back by dismissing Pujara (21) and skipper Virat Kohli (0) in quick succession, Rohit continued his attacking display against the English bowlers.

In the post-lunch session, Rohit played a sweep shot off Moeen Ali toward fine leg and ran two to complete his hundred.

Thanks to his ton, Team India were placed at 174/3 after 48 overs.

For his stunning display with the bat, Rohit Sharma received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
