IND v BAN 2019: Sourav Ganguly calls Virat Kohli a “run machine”; lauds his amazing century in the pink ball Test

After bowling out the visitors for just 106 runs in the first innings, Virat Kohli declared the Indian innings on 347/9, with a lead of 241 runs.

Kohli himself was the chief architect for his team’s score as he slammed a masterful 136 with 18 boundaries to his name. He negotiated tough questions from Bangladeshi fast bowlers and was tight with his technique against the pink ball. He added 94 runs with Pujara and 99 runs with Ajinkya Rahane, both of whom made half-centuries.

He also added 53 runs with Ravindra Jadeja and helped India to 347/9 when he decided to declare the innings. Sourav Ganguly, BCCI President was in awe of his innings and said that "he is a run machine."  Moreover, the former CAB President also said, "It's actually easier than the red ball."

Ganguly, who is the man behind India agreeing to play a pink ball test after initial resistance, said the success of the first day lay in the fact that 60,000 spectators watched the action.

He was sympathetic towards the Bangladeshi team given that they are without Tamim Iqbal and Shakib-Al-Hasan. He said, "They don't have 4-5 main players."
