Prithvi Shaw continued his sensational form, smashing a second successive century to take Mumbai to a strong position in the second semi-final of Vijay Hazare Trophy against Karnataka at the Palam A ground, Delhi on Thursday (March 11).

With this hundred, Shaw also went past Mayank Agarwal to score the highest runs in a single edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Agarwal had amassed 723 runs during the 2017-18 season of the domestic 50-over tournament.

On his way to breaking the record, Shaw hit four tons, including an unbeaten double century (227*) against Puducherry in the group stage.

In the semi-final, the right-handed opener was dismissed for 165 off 122 balls. His knock was studded with 17 fours and 7 sixes.

For his remarkable batting exploits, Shaw received rich praise from former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan and veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik.

Shaw, who is currently leading Mumbai in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, was dropped from the Indian team after his failure in the first Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval last December.

However, the setback seems to have made Shaw highly determined as he has been accumulating huge scores in domestic cricket for Mumbai.

In the quarter-final against Saurashtra, Shaw had slammed 185 not out off 123 balls to script Mumbai’s thumping nine-wicket victory.
