Sydney Sixers registered a comprehensive 27-run victory over Perth Scorchers to clinch the Big Bash League (BBL) 10 title on Saturday (February 6).
Asked to bat first, Sixers posted 188/6 in 20 overs on the back of opener James Vince’s 60-ball 95 (10 fours and 3 sixes).
In reply, Scorchers could only manage 161/9 in 20 overs. Except for Liam Livingstone (45 off 35 balls), none of the Perth batsmen managed to touch the 40-run mark.
Apart from Sixers’ dominance, the highlight of the BBL final was Livingstone’s banter with the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Stokes’ hilarious reaction when Rohit Sharma dropped an absolute dolly at mid-wicket to give Dom Bess a life.
While fielding near the boundary during Sixers’ innings, a mic’ed up Livingstone told commentators on air: “I’ve spent my whole time on the boundary so I haven’t spoken to anyone."
When the commentators enquired him about the chatter from the SCG crowd, the England batsman revealed that he has been at the receiving end.
“I was told if I was any good I’d be in India [for England’s tour of India], which is a fair point,” Livingstone said with a smile, which also left the commentators in splits.
