Former India captain MS Dhoni won't come out of retirement to feature in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy for Jharkhand. The tournament is set to take place from January 2021.

Dhoni, who quit international cricket on August 15 this year, had played Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He also confirmed his availability for the next IPL in CSK's last league match. But he has no plan to play the local domestic T20 tournament.

Dhoni reportedly wanted to play the tournament in 2020 but the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even IPL 2020 was pushed to September from March.

On the other hand, Suresh Raina, who had announced retirement with Dhoni, will play for Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Raina has started his preparation with his teammates of UP. He is returning to competitive cricketer after over a year. The southpaw had missed out on IPL 2020 because of personal reasons.
