India captain Rohit Sharma came under fire from cricket fans as Australia dominated day 2 of the ongoing third BGT 2024 Test being played at the Gabba, Brisbane. After day 1 was ruined by rain, Australia took the attack to Indian bowlers despite three early wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah removed both Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney early on day 2 and Nitish Reddy accounted for Marnus Labuschagne. At 75/3, India seemingly had an upper hand, but India’s arch nemesis Steve Smith and Travis Head got together and added 241 runs for the fourth wicket.

Head made 152, his 9th Test ton and Smith regained his form with 101, his first Test ton in 18 innings, as India bowlers struggled. The pair looted 171 runs in 31 overs in the third session’s play as Rohit Sharma looked out of plans and let things happen, hoping for a break.

Then Jasprit Bumrah gave that break, as he removed Head, Smith, and Mitchell Marsh in quick succession. At stumps on day 2, Australia had the firm advantage with 405/7 on the board.

Jasprit Bumrah picked 5/72, as he did the majority of damage, with Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja looking listless and Akash Deep being unlucky.

Rohit Sharma looked out of sorts with his planning and even bowlers were looking for guidance from the captain, but he was not able to help much.

This led to fans expressing dissatisfaction and disappointment at Rohit Sharma’s captaincy on social media. Some even argued that Rohit’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss was a wrong one.

The frustration has boiled over, and numerous calls for Rohit's resignation have flooded social media platforms.
