Shubman Gill will most likely make space for Rohit Sharma in 2nd Test if the opener returns | GettyFormer India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has jokingly said that Rohit Sharma, the regular Indian captain should sit at home recuperating from his thumb injury instead of coming to Bangladesh for the second and final Test which begins in Dhaka on December 22.

India completed a dominating 188-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test match in Chattogram under the captaincy of KL Rahul. Kuldeep Yadav picked 8 wickets in total and was named the Player of the Match.

Rahul captained India in the first Test and the third ODI of the three-match series which preceded the Tests after Rohit Sharma hurt his left thumb in the second ODI in Dhaka while fielding in the slips. He suffered a dislocation and flew back to Mumbai for consultation.

However, it has been reported that the right-handed opening batsman has recovered and will soon travel to Bangladesh for the second Test.

BAN v IND 2022: “I am not aware of it”- KL Rahul on Rohit Sharma’s availability for second Test in Dhaka

In his absence, Shubman Gill opened the innings for India and scored his maiden Test century in the second innings of the match and impressed one and all hence, Ajay Jadeja wants Rohit Sharma to miss the Dhaka Test and complete his rehab properly, as Gill would have to sit out in case Rohit plays.

During an interaction with Sony Sports, Ajay Jadeja said:Tabhi toh bol raha hu Rohit ko bolo ghar me baithne ke liye (That is why I suggest Rohit should stay at home). When a player suffers a hand fracture and you cannot hold the bat for about 10 days, even if you recover, you cannot really join the team the very next day. It takes another 10 to 15 days. And we don't even know the extent of the injury yet. That is why I suggest this. We are looking for a temporary solution, and this is the best solution for it.”

Bangladesh and India will clash in the second Test at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka from December 22 onwards.
