India won the third and final ODI against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Saturday and avoided a whitewash at the hands of the Tigers. The victory was more special in the way the Indian team dominated the hosts, all thanks to superlative knocks from Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli.
Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ishan had replaced the injured Rohit Sharma in the XI and Kuldeep Yadav was included as well.
Shikhar Dhawan fell early for 3 runs, but after that for 30 odd overs, Bangladesh bowlers only saw the ball going to the boundary ropes or over the ropes into the crowd as Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli entertained the crowds.
Kishan raced off to his maiden ODI century in 86 balls and in further 18 balls made his 150, which was the fastest in ODIs by an Indian. But a new world record was made when Ishan took the single to get to his double century which came of 126 balls, the fastest ever in ODI history.
Kishan enthralled the crowd in Chattogram with 10 sixes and 24 fours in his 210-run knock before getting dismissed. Then Virat Kohli scored his 72nd international and 44th ODI ton, making 113, to add more stars to an already amazing Indian innings, as they finished on 409/8 in 50 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh could make only 182 and lost the match by 227 runs.
Ishan Kishan was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding innings and was lauded by everyone.
His teammates Shreyas Iyer, stand-in captain KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli took to Twitter to praise the young Jharkhand batter.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan was himself over the moon and in a tweet, called his 210 “an innings that will stay in my heart forever”.
