Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Dinesh Karthik, heaped praise on Ishan Kishan, the hero of Team India’s massive 227-run win over Bangladesh in the third and final ODI on Saturday (December 10).

Hailing Ishan’s record-breaking knock of 210 runs in 131 balls, Karthik said that the left-hander’s incredible knock is certainly a big warning for the openers as the top order has been struggling to get going in the white-ball format, and it was well witnessed during Team India’s 1-2 ODI series loss in Bangladesh.

Ishan took only 126 balls to notch up his double hundred in ODI cricket, and Karthik said that it was really pleasing to see how the runs were coming off of the 24-year-old’s bat.

Notably, the Mumbai Indians star got the opportunity due to Rohit Sharma’s thumb injury, and he made the most of this opportunity to enter the record books, and Karthik feels it will leave the team management scratching its head over the opening combination.

Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz about Ishan’s double ton: “It was beautiful to watch the way Ishan paced his innings after first five overs. The kind of shots he played; he took on bowlers consistently. The beauty about 200 was the strike rate; at 160, scoring a double hundred is special effort.”

Karthik signed off by saying, “He batted beautifully, the last 100 coming off 41 balls says a lot. That's the skill, that's why he has been picked by Mumbai Indians at such a high price. He's somebody who is going to deliver. This, in many ways, puts the cat among the pigeons when it comes to the openers.”
