KARTIK TYAGI
The young bowler from Uttar Pradesh, Kartik Tyagi flew to Australia with the Indian squad as a net bowler. He also played in the first practice game against Australia A and handed Will Pucovski a concussion after hitting him on the head with a steep bouncer.
The 20-year-old pacer was a star in India’s 2020 U19 World Cup campaign in South Africa, where he impressed with his pace and ability to move the ball in the air and off the pitch. His run-up is often compared with that of tearaway Australian pacer Brett Lee.

Tyagi also received an IPL contract from Rajasthan Royals (RR) and impressed everyone with his pace and ability to bowl yorkers. He picked 9 wickets in 10 matches for RR in IPL 2020 and was included in the Indian touring party to Australia.
Though there is an outside chance for Tyagi to be picked in the Indian team after Shami’s injury, if he does get selected, it would be a big boost to his confidence as he is already learning a lot from the Indian fast bowlers in nets and is an exciting prospect for the future.
