India captain Rohit Sharma is in no mood to retire from the game in the near future. In fact, he has set his eyes on the ultimate prize of the T20 World Cup next month and hopefully the World Test Championship (WTC) final next year.

Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be hosted by the USA and the West Indies jointly.

Rohit had come close to winning the World Cup last year when he guided India to the final, without tasting any defeat during the league stage. However, the Australian team outplayed India on a tricky wicket in the final as Men in Blue batting had an off day on the most important occasion.

Notably, India is yet to win an ICC trophy since winning the Champions Trophy title in 2013 under MS Dhoni.

Answering a question from Sheeran about retirement, Rohit said that he is still playing well at the moment and wants to win a world title with India. He added that wants India to make it to the WTC final in 2025 in England.

"I haven't really thought about retirement. But, I don't know where life takes you. I am still playing well at this point in time - so I am thinking I am going to continue for a few more years and then, I don't know. I really want to win the World Cup and there is a WTC final in 2025, hopefully, India makes it," said Rohit while talking to Ed Sheeran and Gaurav Kapur on a special edition of Breakfast with Champions.

The India captain also discussed the setback in the World Cup final last year, saying he didn't believe anything could stop India at the time. He stated that India had a horrible day at the time, while Australia performed marginally better.

"50-over World Cup for me is the actual World Cup. We've grown up watching that World Cup. More importantly, it was happening in India in front of our home crowd. We played so well up until that final. When we won the semi-finals, I thought, now we're just a step away. We're doing all the things right.

What's the one thing that can make us lose the World Cup? Not a single thing came to my mind. Because I thought we ticked all the boxes, we were playing good cricket. Confidence was there. We were all supposed to have one bad day and that I guess that was our bad day. Don't think we played bad cricket in that final, certain things didn't go our way. But Australia were slightly better than us," said Rohit.
