Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma was in a funny mood during the ongoing IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru being played in Wankhede Stadium on April 11.
Hardik Pandya, MI captain, had won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB lost a few cheap wickets at the start including that of Virat Kohli (3) and Glenn Maxwell (0).
But then Faf du Plessis (61 with 4 fours and 3 sixes) and Rajat Patidar (50 with 4 sixes and 3 fours) added 82 runs and got RCB’s batting innings on track.
Dinesh Karthik provided the finishing touches as he made 53* in 23 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes and took RCB to 196/8 in 20 overs.
During the fag end of the RCB’s innings when Karthik was pummeling the Mumbai Indians bowlers, Rohit Sharma, who was fielding at first slip, decided to tease Karthik.
"Shabash DK, World Cup khelna hain abhi," Rohit was heard saying referring to his remark to the upcoming T20 World Cup slated to be held in USA and West Indies.
