Indian captain Rohit Sharma broke plenty of big records on October 11 with his stunning hundred against Afghanistan in the 9th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Delhi.

Rohit broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds in the World Cup. He know has 7 hundred in World Cup tournaments. He also went past Chris Gayle’s record of most sixes (553) in international cricket and now has 556 maximums.

He also set a world record for the joint-fastest batter to score 1000 runs in the World Cup. He and David Warner took only 19 innings to make history.

Following his record-breaking knock, everybody is just talking about Rohit, and now 2011 World Cup winner Virender Sehwag has also reacted to the same with an eye-catching statement.

Sehwag said that he would have picked Rohit for the 2011 World Cup if he were captain or a selector, but said that the right-hander wasn’t the same batter he is now.

Virender Sehwag was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz: “If I had been the captain or a selector, I would have surely picked him for the 2011 World Cup. But at that time he was not the Rohit Sharma that he is right now. He was a bit young and at the end of the day, it is the decision of the captain and selectors as to the team balance that they want.”

The former opener also feels Rohit is currently at his place because of the 2011 World Cup snub.

Sehwag added, “Maybe that snub motivated him to become more consistent and he realized that he had to score so many runs that he would never miss a World Cup again.”
