The highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match began on September 2, 2023 in Kandy, Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament. Pakistan already defeated Nepal in the tournament opener in Multan.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first and Shaheen Afridi had the better of the two big heavyweight Indian batters as he castled both Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (4) in successive overs, while Shubman Gill made 10 runs 32 balls, before being bowled by Haris Rauf.

Shreyas Iyer looked in great touch but was caught by Fakhar Zaman for 14 runs.

Then Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) added 138 runs for the fifth wicket and took India to 266 runs in 48.5 overs. Shaheen Afridi picked 4/35, while Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took three wickets apiece.

Meanwhile, the Indian innings saw two interruptions due to rain and the first one came early in the Indian innings. Rohit engrossed in the high-stakes showdown, had another reason to be frustrated during the break as well when a cameraman repeatedly got into his face.

the broadcasters attempted to capture a sound bite or a quick glimpse of Rohit in India's dugout situated near the boundary. Rohit Sharma looked visibly discontented with the cameraman's presence. He politely requested that the video not be recorded and gestured for some privacy.
