India and Pakistan are facing off in the 3rd match of the Asia Cup 2023 in Kandy, Sri Lanka on September 2 and saw India batting first after winning the toss.

Shaheen Afridi had the better of the two big heavyweight Indian batters as he castled both Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (4) in successive overs, while Shubman Gill made 10 runs 32 balls, before being bowled by Haris Rauf.

Shreyas Iyer looked in great touch but was caught by Fakhar Zaman for 14 runs.

It was then India needed a big partnership and Ishan Kishan stepped up with Hardik Pandya and slowly brought India back in the game. Kishan played well keeping his attacking instincts under control, but didn’t let go of any loose balls.

He reached his fifty in 54 balls and looked good for a century. Hardik Pandya also reached his fifty in 62 balls and the duo added 100 plus runs for the fifth wicket. However, discomforted by cramps and perhaps a hamstring niggle, Kishan decided to attack.

And in doing so, he mishit a short ball from Haris Rauf and was caught for 82 runs in 81 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. He had added 138 runs in 141 balls with Pandya.

His knock gave India a good platform to launch from and received laurels from the cricket fraternity on social media.
