Shardul Thakur starred with three wickets in the recent second ODI between Zimbabwe and India which India won by 5 wickets on Saturday, August 20 in Harare. He picked 3/38 and along with Player of the Match Sanju Samson ensured India won the match and took a 2-0 lead in the three-ODI series.
India dismissed the home side for 161, with Shardul removing opener Innocent Kaia (16), captain Regis Chakabva (2), and Luke Jongwe (6) with some fine swing bowling.
In a video shared by BCCI, Mohammed Siraj was seen interviewing Shardul Thakur which led to some cheeky answers from the Palghar Express. Often hailed as the man with the golden arm, Thakur was asked about his wicket-taking ability, to which he responded with his plan to hit the right length.
"Lord, you didn't play the first match... what was your plan in the second one,” asked Siraj in a video shared by the BCCI.
"I saw your bowling lengths before I came in to bowl. I discovered the right length that would trouble the batters here. My plan was simple," replied Shardul.
Siraj further asked Shardul – "Hamesha aap aate hai to breakthrough dilaate hai. Yeh kya raaz hai? (You provide breakthrough whenever you arrive to bowl. What's the secret?)"
"Koshish to hamesha wicket nikaalne ki rehti hai. Bhagwaan ka bhi thoda rehem hai ke wickets mil rahe (I always try to get a wicket. God has been kind)," responded Shardul.
