Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has taken a sly dig at the Pakistan team for the pace of chasing a target after questions were raised over India losing five wickets while chasing a total of 161 against Zimbabwe in the second ODI on Saturday (August 20).

Chasing 161 for victory, Team India lost wickets at regular intervals, but Shikhar Dhawan (33), Shubman Gill (33), and Sanju Samson (43*) managed to take the touring side over the line in 25.4 overs to take a 2-0 lead in the ODI series, with the final ODI to be played on August 22.

Hailing India's attacking approach, Kaneria said that Pakistan would have taken 50 overs to chase 161 runs as many Pakistanis were targeting the Men in Blue for losing five wickets while chasing the paltry total against Zimbabwe.

Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel: “Many Pakistani fans have said that India lost five wickets while chasing a total of 161 against Zimbabwe. But we must consider that India had a very attacking approach and they finished the game within 25 overs. In a similar situation, Pakistan would have taken 50 overs to chase it down.”

Meanwhile, Kaneria slammed the PCB and the team management for playing Shaheen in all three formats and not giving him rest after the pacer was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a knee injury, and now his chances for the T20 World Cup 2022 are also slim.

The former spinner said, “Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out of the Asia Cup and the PCB is to blame for this. I had been saying this for a year that he will break down one day. The same has happened, that too ahead of a big tournament.”

He signed off by saying, “There was no need for the management to play him in the Sri Lanka series. Playing him in so many games in all three formats was a big mistake.”
