Mumbai Indians (MI) clinched the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) title after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by seven wickets in a hard-fought final at Brabourne Stadium on Sunday (March 26).

DC skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that backfired immediately as the top order was blown away by Issy Wong with three full tosses to leave DC reeling at 35/3 in the 5th over.

Lanning and Marizanne Kapp stabilized the innings but both fell in quick succession as DC plummeted to 79/9 after being 73/3. Shikha Pandey (27*) and Radha Yadav (27*) added 52 priceless runs for the last wicket to help the side post a below par but respectable total of 131/9 on the board. Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each, while Amelia Kerr picked two for MI.

Mumbai Indians lost their openers cheaply to be 23/2 in the 4th over, before Natalie Sciver-Brunt and MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur put on a crucial stand of 72 runs for the third wicket. Kaur was run out for 37 but Sciver-Brunt (60*) continued to anchor the innings and was well supported by Kerr who struck 14* in 8 balls as MI clinched the title in the last over with three balls to spare.
