WI v IND 2023: Kuldeep Yadav should be a regular in Indian white-ball setup- Robin Uthappa

Uthappa praised Kuldeep Yadav for his control on pace of the delivery in the air.

Kuldeep Yadav | GettyThanks to his brilliant performances on the ongoing West Indies tour’s white-ball leg, Kuldeep Yadav has once again claimed to become a regular in the Indian team white-ball setup, feels Robin Uthappa.

After claiming 7 wickets in the three-match ODI series, Kuldeep Yadav continued his amazing bowling performances in T20Is as he picked 3/28 in India’s win in the third T20I. His economy rate was a commendable 7.00, demonstrating his control over the game and his ability to restrict the opposition's scoring.

During his spell, Kuldeep became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets in T20Is, achieving this feat in just 30 matches. He broke the record held by Yuzvendra Chahal, who reached 50 wickets in 34 innings.

The Indian spinner is also the second-fastest bowler overall to reach 50 wickets in T20Is, just behind Ajantha Mendis.

Uthappa was thoroughly impressed with Kuldeep and praised his flighted delivery, and lauded him for mastering the way to control the pace of the delivery in its trajectory.

"He has got this flighted delivery. It has the same trajectory at the point of delivery. He can kind of control the pace of the delivery at that trajectory. I think that's become one of his biggest strengths today and the biggest improvements that he's made.

You've seen Piyush Chawla do the same in the IPL this year. He bowls slower through the air at the same trajectory which is why he's second on that list to 50 wickets," said Uthappa on JioCinema.

Uthappa also said that he hopes Kuldeep will get a regular spot in the white-ball setup going forward.

"You got to feel for the guy. He's kind of waited and bided his time away and not play and every time he's gotten an opportunity, He has got wickets. You read stuff on Twitter like Oh, man, Kuldeep has performed, he is going to get dropped in the next game. And then, often what's happened to him in the past and you hope that's not the case anymore and they move on from that and make him a regular member of the whiteball setup," said Uthappa.

India will play the last two T20Is in Florida on August 12 and 13.
