On his Test debut, the southpaw slammed 171 off 387 balls (16 fours and 1 six) and added 229 runs for the opening wicket with skipper Rohit Sharma (103) to lead the foundation of India’s massive first innings total of 421/5 (declared).

After taking a healthy lead of 271 innings, the visitors bundled out the hosts for a paltry 130 to seal the Test match inside three days.

For his match-winning ton, Jaiswal earned the Player-of-the-Match award and the 21-year-old is now drawing rich praise from the fans and former cricketers alike.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, legendary India spinner Harbhajan Singh said that Yashasvi Jaiswal will be disappointed to have missed out on a double hundred while also adding that he will play for India for a very long time.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal has had an impact straightaway in international cricket. Although he will be disappointed to have missed out on getting a double hundred, I feel we are going to see him play for India for a very long time. There's no shortage of talent and my advice to Jaiswal would be that work really hard because you have what it takes to conquer the world,” Harbhajan stated.

During his knock, Jaiswal was also involved in a 110-run partnership with Virat Kohli, who fell after scoring 76. Harbhajan feels Kohli will be gutted to not get the three-figure mark.

“There was a lot of talk that Rohit hasn't scored big runs for 2-3 years, so congratulations to him. Virat also looked good for his 76. However, he will be disappointed to not have got the hundred and his fans too were eagerly waiting for him to get to that landmark,” he added.

With this victory, India took an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series and Harbhajan backed the Rohit Sharma-led side to win the series 2-0.

“The result of this series is a foregone conclusion as I feel it will be 2-0. Indian players have another opportunity to score runs and pick wickets and maintain their good form. This form will help them in their upcoming games,” said Harbhajan.

The second Test is slated to get underway on July 20 at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain.
