WI v IND 2023: WATCH – Team India’s heart-warming interaction with Sir Garfield Sobers in Barbados

Sobers is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time.

Sir Garfield Sobers interacted with the Indian cricket team | BCCI/TwitterFollowing the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia last month, the Indian cricketers were on a much-needed break.

India’s next assignment is the tour of West Indies, where the team is due to play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.

For the all-format tour, Team India have already arrived in the Caribbean island. On Wednesday (July 5), Rohit Sharma and his men got a chance to interact with the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time.

Taking to Twitter, BCCI shared a video in which the Indian players and head coach Rahul Dravid can be seen having a heart-warming conversation with Sobers.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin and Shardul Thakur went up to Sobers and shook hands with him, and also had their moments with the cricket icon.

In the video, Dravid can be seen introducing Shubman Gill to Sobers by saying: “He is one of our most young exciting batsmen.”

Sobers was accompanied by his wife as the 86-year-old met the Indian players in Barbados.

India’s tour of West Indies will get underway on July 12 with the two-match Test series in Dominica. The tour will conclude on August 13 with the fifth and final T20I in Florida.
