WI v IND 2022: Rohit Sharma becomes the highest run-getter in T20Is; makes two world records in 1st T20I

Rohit went past New Zealand's Martin Guptill in the list.

Rohit Sharma | GettyIndia captain Rohit Sharma has taken over as the highest run-getter in T20Is after going past New Zealand’s Martin Guptill in the ongoing first T20I match between West Indies and India at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on July 29, 2022.

After being asked to bat first by Nicholas Pooran, who won the toss, Rohit Sharma led the charge from the front and hit 64 in 44 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. During his amazing half-century, Sharma went past Guptill to become the highest run-getter in the T20I format. Rohit was on 20 when he hit his 2nd six of the day to go past Guptill.

Guptill had taken over the numero uno position just two days before in the series against Scotland, and had a chance to defend his position, but was rested from the second T20I.

Most fifty-plus scores in Men's T20I:

31 - Rohit Sharma*

30 - Virat Kohli

27 - Babar Azam

23 - David Warner

22 - Martin Guptill

India managed 190/6, in the end, thanks to Dinesh Karthik’s 41* in 19 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes and Ashwin’s 13* and their 52* partnership in 25 balls
