IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wrongly congratulated Indian batter Shubman Gill for his maiden ODI hundred in the third game against West Indies in Trinidad on July 27.

After missing out on his century in the first two games, Gill looked all set to reach the milestone in the third ODI against West Indies. Opening the batting, the right-hander yet again took his team off the flyer and provided them with a great start. 

He scored runs with extreme fluency and looked very classy. But as it turned out, rain gods were not in favour of him, separating him from what would have been a maiden international century by just 2 runs.

Gill was on 98 when play stopped owing to rain after the end of the 36th over and due to the long delay, India’s innings were halted and eventually West Indies were set a revised target. The right-hander was left stranded on 98* as the target for West Indies was revised to 257 in 35 overs as per the DLS. 

However, in what was a hilarious incident, RCB didn’t take note of it and took to their Twitter account to congratulate Gill for scoring a century, but as they realized they deleted the tweet. They posted the picture of the batter and captioned it: "Shubman Gill brings up his maiden international century, and the timing of the knock couldn’t have been more perfect. Take a bow, champ. #PlayBold #WIvIND #TeamIndia."

Coming to the match, on account of Gill’s 98*, Shikhar Dhawan's 58 and 44 by Shreyas Iyer, India posted a total of 225 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in 36 overs. 

Chasing the target of 257 in 35 overs due to DLS,  West Indies lost wickets in clusters and were bundled out for just 137. Yuzvendra Chahal starred with the ball for his side and returned with the figures of 4/17.
