Indian opener Shubman Gill talked about his performance in the ODI series against West Indies. He also rued missing his maiden hundred due to rain in the third game.
In a match, where rain played the spoilsport, India thumped West Indies by 119 runs to complete a 3-0 whitewash. The star performer behind the visitors’ stunning win was young Gill.
After scoring 64 and 43 in the first two games, Gill continued his fine form and exhibited high-class batting in the third match. He held the one end while wickets kept tumbling at the other and paved his way through his second half-century in the series.

Gill looked very settled in the middle and was looking all set for his maiden hundred but the fortunes didn’t favour him as rain interrupted the match. He was on 98 when play stopped after the end of the 36th over and eventually West Indies were set a revised target.
Speaking in the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill, who won Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards, said that he was hoping to get his hundred and needed only one over to reach the milestone. He expressed his disappointment for his dismissals in the first two games and remarked that he tried to play according to the situation.
“Was hoping to get a hundred, but that (rain) was not under my control. (I) was very disappointed how I got out in the first two ODIs. I tried to play according to the ball and let the instincts take over. I wanted only one more over, was hoping for that,” Shubman Gill said.

Gill also talked about the wicket and said that he’s happy to contribute for his side.
“The wicket played fantastically in all the three games. The ball was gripping a bit after 30 overs. Happy with my performance," he said.
Gill, with his solid performance in the ODI series against West Indies, might have made his case strong for a regular place in the Indian ODI side. He scored 206 runs in three matches and provided his team with a solid start in every match.
Coming to the match, after the rain stopped the play, India were on 225/3 and the target for West Indies was revised to 257 in 35 overs as per the DLS. Riding on Yuzvendra Chahal’s four wickets, the Dhawan-led side bundled out the opposition for just 137 runs to win the match by 119 runs.
