Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra on Thursday (14th July) tweeted about Umran Malik’s exclusion from the T20I squad against  West Indies. His post took Twitter by storm as they questioned skipper Rohit Sharma for his statement.

Team India are all set to tour West Indies for three ODIs and five T20Is. The 50-over series will be played from 22nd July to 27th July whereas the 20-over series will run from 29th July to 9th August.

BCCI recently named the squad for both the ODIs and T20Is. While seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested from the ODI squad, R Ashwin made a comeback into the shortest format, having played his last T20I in November 2021.

However, one notable name that was missing from the squad was of Umran Malik. The speedster gained limelight during the IPL 2022 as his sheer pace took many by surprise. His heroics in the league earned him a place in the Indian side and he even went on to make his debut for the team.

Aakash Chopra spoke about Umran’s exclusion from the squad and said that he’s pretty sure that the management would’ve talked to him as they need to nurture his talent for the future.

"Umran Malik isn’t there in any of the two squads. ODI and T20i. I’m pretty sure that he’s been spoken to already…because it’ll be all about nurturing his talent going forward," Aakash Chopra Tweeted.

Chopra’s remark took the Internet by storm as fans were quick to link it with Rohit's recent comments about the pacer. Notably, the skipper had said that the young bowler is very much in India's plans for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Here’s how they reacted:
