Veteran Indian batters, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, are currently training at the BCCI’s Centre Of Excellence in Bengaluru. Both the players clear their fitness tests earlier this month.
While Rahul is due to feature in the second multi-day game against Australia A in Lucknow from September 23, Rohit is set to stage his much-awaited return to international cricket in the three-match ODI series in Australia next month. Hence, the stalwarts have hit the ground running in Bengaluru.
On Sunday (September 21), the BCCI shared a video on social media, in which the duo could be seen in great touch while batting in the nets.
“As part of their preparation for the upcoming assignments, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul trained at the BCCI Centre Of Excellence focusing on skills and strength training," the caption of the video read.
“Both players simulated the different conditions on offer at the CoE during their stint."
ODI format remains the only international commitment for Rohit Sharma after his retirement from T20Is and Tests over the last 15 months.
Rahul, on the other hand, is an integral part of India's ODI and Test plans. He was sidelined from the shortest format after the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Both Rohit and Rahul will be expected to represent India in the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia, which will comprise of three ODIs and five T20Is. Rohit’s last appearance for the country was the Champions Trophy final in March this year. Meanwhile, Rahul was part of the Shubman Gill-led squad which drew the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 in England.
