Ruturaj Gaikwad roared back to form in the ongoing Buchi Babu tournament with a sizzling ton for the Maharashtra team. In his first appearance before this game, Gaikwad had made scores of 1 and 11 in the first-round loss to Chhattisgarh by 35 runs.
He made a comeback in the third-round match against Himachal Pradesh, which got off on Tuesday, after being conspicuously absent from the second match against the TNCA President's XI.
Maharashtra opted to bat first after winning the toss and lost opener Siddesh Veer for 22. But Ruturaj Gaikwad and Arshin Kulkarni added 220 runs, in which both batters scored their respective centuries.
Ruturaj Gaikwad hammered his ton in 122 balls and, during his knock, hit four sixes in an over. He went on to make 133 in 144 balls with 10 fours and four sixes to his name. Meanwhile, Kulkarni made 146 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t have the best time in 2025, with his IPL 2025 tournament coming to an early end due to an elbow injury. Then, despite being picked in India A’s squad for the England tour, he was benched for both unofficial tests.
He agreed to play for Yorkshire in the County Championship until the end of the season, but he had to cancel his deal and return home for personal reasons.
