India batter Prithvi Shaw started his new innings in domestic cricket with a century for his new team, Maharashtra. Playing in the ongoing Buchi Babu tournament in Tamil Nadu, against Chhattisgarh, Shaw smashed a century in 122 balls in his first outing for Maharashtra.
After Ruturaj Gaikwad fell for 1 at No. 4, the star-studded team dropped to 143 for five, but Shaw's perfect hundred saved them from a precipitous collapse.
After Chhattisgarh scored 252 in 89.3 overs on the first day, Shaw, who had 14 fours and a six, helped the team surpass 150. With three world catches in his first competitive appearance since December 2024, Shaw had left his mark. Shaw was out stumped for 111 runs, leaving Maharashtra at 176/7.
Here is the moment Prithvi Shaw reached his century:
Shaw had been granted a no-objection certificate from Mumbai to change teams in June. According to Prithvi Shaw, playing for Maharashtra will help him advance as a cricket player at this point in his career. In addition, he thanked the Mumbai Cricket Association for all the chances and help he had gotten over the years.
During his teenage years, Shaw was widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the world. However, after five Test matches, six ODIs, and a T20I, his international career stalled out, and he played his final game for India in July 2021. Before his dramatic drop last season, he continued to be active in the domestic scene for a few years after that.
He went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, despite slashing his rate to INR 75 lakhs.
With a best score of 379, Shaw has amassed 4556 runs at 46.02 in 58 First-Class outings, including 13 hundreds and 18 half-centuries. He has 3399 runs at 55.72 and a strike rate of 125.74 in List-A games. His 2902 runs in T20 cricket have come at an average of 25.01 and a strike rate of 151.54.
