Ex-India T20I and Test captain Rohit Sharma recalled how during the toss of the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Pakistan in New York, his forgetfulness caused a humorous incident. The 38-year-old clarified that he forgot he had the coin in his pocket because of the anxious atmosphere in the stadium and Ravi Shastri's exuberant presence.
As is his custom, Rohit Sharma lost track of where he had placed the coin during the toss. The Indian skipper was momentarily agitated when the toss host, Ravi Shastri, requested him to throw the coin. He started looking for it and eventually located it in his pants pocket.
Before they calmed down for the toss, Rohit and Babar Azam both smiled at this humorous time.
Rohit looked to the match referee for assistance when he was asked to spin the coin. Rohit now had an embarrassed look on his face as Pakistani captain Babar Azam, who was standing next to him, reminded him that he had the coin.
“I’ll tell you what is happening. Look at him. In the blue, it’s Rohit Sharma ready to punch. In the green, it’s ready to counterpunch. Yeh sab cheez wahan pe ho raha hai, toh obviously it’s fun. In the middle of everything, Ravi Shastri’s energy, and everything, I forgot coin mere paas hee hai,” Rohit Sharma revealed in a conversation on Star Sports.
